BELS is a member of Multi-GNSSAsia (MGA), an organization whose aim is to promote multi-GNSS utilization and applications in the Asia and Oceania region. In particular, MGA promotes new multi-GNSS utilization and applications in the region and encourages GNSS provider and users in Asia Oceania region to develop new applications and carry out experiment or demonstration jointly.
MGA goal is to promote social progress and better standards of life in the Asia Oceania region through the application of “Multi-GNSS” technologies for such purposes as, for example, the mitigation of environmental and natural hazard impacts so as to ensure a safe and secure society, and the encouragement of economic growth by peaceful utilization of “Multi-GNSS” products and services. In order to achieve this goal, the main objective of MGA is to encourage GNSS signal and service providers and user communities in the Asia Oceania region to develop new applications, and to carry out experiments or demonstrations by using all available “Multi-GNSS” systems whose interface control documents are public, on a best efforts basis in the spirit of international cooperation. Those experiments or demonstrations are targeted not only academic purposes but also business and industry purposes to realize the operational business services of Multi-GNSS.
In order to maximize the impact of European GNSS in Asia, BELS has a strong link with GNSS.Asia, another H2020 project that involves Asian countries. BELS and GNSS.Asia carry on togheter some dissemination activities, such as the organization of the MGA Conference in South East Asia. GNSS.asia, financed under Horizon 2020, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, has the objective to develop and implement GNSS industrial cooperation activities between the GNSS industry in Europe and Asia-Pacific, focusing on the downstream sector (applications and receivers).
Industrial collaboration in the international context of the GNSS downstream sector is becoming increasingly important, as Galileo moves towards operational readiness and services oriented towards global applications are being tested. To facilitate industrial cooperation between Europe and Asia-Pacific, GNSS.asia provides a comprehensive range of free-of-charge, hands-on support services. GNSS.asia has the following objectives:

Promote EGNSS differentiators in upcoming multi-GNSS solutions
Raise awareness on EGNSS applications and their benefits
The GNSS.asia platform aims to stimulate the creation of industrial partnerships through a series of activities, including workshops, industry seminars, thematic events and round tables, both in Asia and in the EU. Above and beyond its geographic reach in India, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, GNSS.asia is also set to foster industrial cooperation in a wider multi-GNSS territory, which includes Australia and a number of selected countries in South-East Asia.
The GNSS.asia consortium brings together key European and Asian organisations, which have long-standing experiences in fostering EU-Asian industrial cooperation and a proven track record in GNSS activities. In order to maximise the project’s impact, the consortium works in close collaboration with prominent Asian companies, industry associations and research organisations. The GNSS.asia team will continue to assess market areas of mutual interest, present a GNSS industrial overview and provide support for industrial cooperation between EU and Asian GNSS players.

BELS collaborates with the Jupiter H2020 project in ordert to maximize the exploitation of the dissemination activities carried on by the two projects. For example, BELS was presented at the European GNSS village managed by Jupiter at the ITS World Congress 2015 in Bordeaux, France. Jupiter – Joint European Project for International ITS/EGNSS awareness Raising has the ultimate ambition to facilitate the breakthrough of EGNSS in ITS worldwide.
In order to ensure that EGNSS comes to prominence in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) sector, the added value of EGNSS, compared to or in combination with GPS/Glonass/Beidou constellations will be demonstrated and promoted within the project. In this context, the training of application developers will be critical for them to take advantage of EGNSS and to implement GALILEO positioning feature efficiently in their applications. On the other side, once ITS service providers can demonstrate innovative EGNSS based ITS applications, another key challenge will be to convince public stakeholders and other actors of the transportation industry about the competitive and cost benefit advantages they could derive from implementing such innovative GALILEO or EGNOS based solutions.
JUPITER intends to offer global development perspectives to the European contributors of the EGNSS ITS ecosystem, including to those SMEs involved in those projects funded by the EC in the frame of FP7 or H2020, or to the winners of the GALILEO Masters, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the European EGNSS technologies and application industries worldwide.
